Shipping and delivery

Every Bastukronan product is built by hand by our dedicated materials and assembly partner. They have been building high-quality timber structures for more than three decades, using the same northern spruce and heat-treated aspen that has stood up to Nordic winters for centuries.

Building in timber runs deep here. The forests sit inside the boreal belt, and the craftspeople have worked with wood for as long as the sauna itself has existed. The barrel sauna, the shape that defines much of our range, was formed by that northern inheritance and by Swedish design choices.

Before your sauna leaves the workshop it is inspected by the same craftspeople who built it. Joints are checked by hand. Fittings are tested. Dimensions are verified against your order specification. The structure is then crated for freight and handed to our logistics partner for the journey to you.

We deliver to Sweden, Germany, Finland and Denmark at pre-calculated rates. Delivery to other countries is possible on request — contact us before placing an order and we will confirm feasibility and cost within two working days. We have shipped saunas from the United States to Japan for customers who simply want the best.

Want delivery somewhere else? Write to us before you place your order. We have shipped saunas worldwide on request. Cost and lead time are quoted individually. Outside the EU, customs and import charges may apply.

Every product is built to order. The lead time runs from the date your deposit arrives, not from the order date. The table below shows production time plus transit time from our workshop to your delivery address.

These are estimates. Our partner builds every product by hand and never rushes production at the expense of quality. If your order is time-sensitive, tell us early and we will plan it with you.

We use specialist hauliers whose core business is handling oversized, high-value timber structures. Your sauna does not travel in a general goods lorry among pallets of consumer products.

• A two-person team trained in handling large timber structures
• Unloading from the vehicle with a tail lift or pallet truck
• Moving the crated structure to your nominated spot at ground level outdoors
• Removal of all transport packaging
• A short handover conversation about the next steps for assembly or installation

GOOD TO KNOW: white-glove delivery does not include full assembly, installation, electrical connection, or placement beyond a reasonable spot. If the structure needs to go onto a raised deck, a roof terrace, or through a tight passage, discuss it with us before you order. We can quote extended placement services per project.

Our logistics partner contacts you by phone and email at least 5 working days before delivery to agree a date and time window. Someone must be present at the delivery address to sign for the goods. If you need to reschedule after a delivery date is confirmed, tell us as soon as possible. A second delivery attempt may carry a rebooking fee.

A sauna can weigh between 300 and 1,500 kg depending on size. Your foundation must be finished before delivery day — we cannot postpone a delivery while groundwork is completed.

Foundation

• A level, load-bearing surface: at minimum a concrete slab, compacted gravel or paving
• At least 30 cm wider and deeper than the product footprint on every side
• No slope greater than 1% across the surface of the foundation
• The surface must be finished and fully cured before the delivery date

Access

• Road access suitable for a standard freight vehicle: at least 3.5 m of road width and 4 m of clear height
• Any gates, barriers or bollards must be open and unlocked on delivery day
• If access runs through a building or along a narrow path, tell us in advance so we can assess the route
• Garden surfaces (lawn, gravel, decking) must be firm enough to carry the weight of a pallet truck

If your sauna has an electric heater, have a qualified electrician prepare the correct connection point before delivery. The specific requirements (voltage, current, cable size) are listed on each product page. Your electrician must make the final connection — we do not carry out electrical installation.

We send order updates at every step of the process:

• A confirmation email with your order number and production schedule within 24 hours.
• An email when the workshop starts your sauna, usually within 5 working days of the deposit arriving.
• Email and phone contact to confirm your final payment and agree a dispatch date.
• Tracking details from our logistics partner sent by email. Most carriers offer their own live tracking.
• Phone and email contact from the carrier at least 5 working days before the delivery date to confirm the time window.
• A follow-up email from us within 2 working days to confirm you are happy and to share the care and assembly guide.

Despite careful crating and specialist freight handling, transit damage can occasionally happen. If your delivery arrives with visible damage to the packaging or the structure:

• Note the damage on the delivery paperwork before signing — write specifically what is damaged, not just "damaged"
• Photograph all damage before the delivery team leaves: the crating, the packaging, and the affected part of the product
• Do not refuse the delivery unless the damage makes the product completely unusable. Accepting delivery with the damage noted makes your case easier to handle than a refused delivery
• Contact us at the email address below within 48 hours of delivery with your photos and order number

Valid transit damage claims are resolved by replacing the component, repairing it, or in rare cases replacing the whole unit, at our cost. We will never ask you to return an entire sauna at your own expense.

Our workshop is inside the EU. All deliveries to Sweden, Germany, Finland and Denmark move freely within the EU single market. There are no customs charges, import duties or border checks on deliveries.

VAT is applied at the checkout rate for your delivery country. For Swedish and Finnish customers VAT is 25% and 24% respectively. For German and Danish customers it is 19% and 25%. The VAT amount is shown clearly at checkout before payment.

For delivery outside the EU (Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or other countries by special request), customs duty and import VAT apply at the destination country’s current rate. These costs are the buyer’s responsibility. We will tell you the estimated customs cost before confirming a non-EU order.
